Social media is often seen as a hub of creativity, fun trends and a source of community. It’s enabled brands and individuals alike to engage with others who share similar interests. However, building a loyal audience takes more than just posting a few times a week. Instead, growing a following and an engaged community requires careful planning. Data is the fuel that drives effective strategies, allowing users to reach and exceed their targets. Through testing and adapting, anyone can create a plan which serves their own specific needs and objectives.

Use metrics specific to the platform

It can be easy to get swept up in numbers and target metrics, but ask yourself “Have I tailored these for each platform?” The reason this matters is that different platforms may be used to drive different actions, and the style of content may require a tailored approach. For example, target metrics for video content on YouTube may revolve around the number of views, whereas target metrics for a LinkedIn poll may center engagement as the KPI. Consider the channel and audience, and adjust depending on the ideal action.

Analyze engagement rates frequently

Touching on a similar concept – ignoring engagement rates is a big no-no, particularly when you’re looking to foster a community or an active audience. Social media is a conversation, so focus on achieving more than just vanity metrics.

Adapt based on data

Once you’ve got your tracking and measuring under control, utilize the data. Adapt your campaigns, alter your posting schedules, and plan according to what works and what doesn’t. Data can be thought of as a peek from behind the curtain at your audience. Once you’ve been able to gauge reaction, improving your content can help you to achieve and exceed your targets.

Know the difference between reach and impressions

These two metrics may appear similar, and are often confused with one another. Neither is ‘better’ than the other, but it’s crucial to know the difference. Reach refers to the number of unique users who have viewed your content, whereas impressions refer to the number of times your content has been shown or viewed (which includes the same person viewing your content more than once). Understanding the differences will allow you to figure out your engagement rates, and what keeps your audience coming back.

Identify trends and patterns in your data

When looking at data, look to spot regular similarities. Patterns will help you to determine what’s working well and what needs to be changed. By understanding what your audience likes and what they don’t, you can begin to make small changes for maximum impact.

A/B test: experiment to learn what works

Split testing your content is one of the most straightforward ways of finding out what kind of content appeals to your target audience. Test out images, captions and CTAs to determine what the most effective options are. Use the results to channel your efforts in the right direction. Continue to A/B test throughout your campaigns to build on your learnings and to understand what works for different audiences.

Keep an eye on your competitors for inspiration: what’s working for them?

Market research is what will give you a competitive advantage. This also applies to content creators. Understanding what others in your industry or niche are doing, and how their content and campaigns are performing, gives you further insight into your target audience. The better you know your target market, the easier it is to speak to them through your social media channels.

Use unique stats from surveys to benchmark performance

Run surveys to get to know your target market. These unique stats will give you an exclusive view into your followers which you can use to influence your social media efforts. This provides additional information you can’t find elsewhere about why your audience follows you and what they look to gain from your content.

Know when metrics and for vanity vs. value

Depending on your goals, this looks different for everyone. Vanity metrics are metrics that look impressive superficially, but do not serve your brand goals. For example, an Instagram follower count may be considered as a vanity metric, if this is not contributing to a specific goal. Instead, a more effective KPI might be engagement rate, as this gives a greater indication of how interested your audience really is in your content.

Create reports to refer back to

Reports: you either love them or you hate them, but there’s no denying that they can be exceptionally useful. By regularly compiling results and insights, there is a clear way to track progress and measure outcomes compared to previous weeks and months. These can also be used to refer back to when strategizing for future quarters.

Data can be tricky to get your head around, but learning and utilizing the basics can have a sizable impact on your key metrics. Testing, monitoring and adjusting in line with your data can help you to build a strategy that drives your content in the direction of your goals. Take the tips that you see the most value in and apply them to your social media plans to start seeing results. Don’t ignore the numbers – make them your best friends and advisors, guiding you to form your tailored strategy.

Nostalgia is having a moment. Walk down any main street and you might see a poster for a remake of a beloved film franchise. On the way to go shopping you might see a few cringey things that you wore when you were in high school featured in store. Low-rise jeans anyone? No, your eyes aren’t deceiving you, we’re living through a revival of the 90’s and 2000’s.

In this first COPY+PASTE post, we’ll be diving into 90’s and 2000’s nostalgia as it relates to media and design, why we look to the past for inspiration, and how you can turn your nostalgia into a creative outlet through Picsart.

A Little (Recent) History

You don’t have to reach too far back to realize that Millennials and Gen-Z have been through a lot. We’ve recently gone through a pandemic together, countless job losses, and see-sawing economies. If this sounds a little too familiar, you’re totally right. For many, this feels like a sloppy rehash of our childhood.

Fast forward to the COVID-19 pandemic, we battled cabin fever by rewatching our favorite Disney films, rediscovering music we used to love, and revisiting hobbies like playing PC games like The Sims, and coloring books. It’s a clear pattern that we turn to our childhood comforts in times of stress and anxiety.

We could argue that turning to nostalgia is simply a coping mechanism, but many creatives see a unique opportunity. Nostalgia becomes a powerful medium to generate cutting edge creative solutions, reinvigorate brands, and expand creative universes.

Millennials and Gen-Z make up the majority of the workforce today and are on track to have the largest amount of spending power in history. With these new generations raring to spend, film industry executives, creative directors, tech startups, fashion houses, game studios and more are paying attention to the rise of nostalgia and curating new media that creates that familiar feeling of comfort and joy in nostalgia and bringing a new twist to them.

Nostalgia In the Wild

In the design world, we’re seeing these creative directors catching inspiration from the turn of the millennium Y2K era: sleek computerized type, early internet user interfaces, chunky analog devices, nature references (especially that iconic Windows XP wallpaper), and unconventional collages.

[Credits In Order: Giuseppe Pettineo featured in It’s Nice That, Pinterest, Tiki Disco flyer by Jonna Mayer, Yelena Popova for Vogue Ukraine, Giuseppe Pettineo for WeTransfer, The Boring Phone by Heineken featured in HMD, Pinterest, Magdalena Bay through Turntable Lab ]

In photography, trending styles include film filters, bloom, fish eye lens, analog prop devices like walkmans and chunky headphones.

[Credits In Order: Angela Yuen for Madame Figaro Hong Kong Shot by Isaac Lam via Instagram, Low Lights Studios via Instagram, Angus Chiang Fall/Winter 2020, Youthforia brand featured in Creative Boom ]

With the new millennium comes brand new perspectives on what the future holds—and contrasting typographic styles. We saw a rise in slick futuristic typefaces that suggest optimism and utopia. From another perspective, we’ve seen the explosion of hip-hop culture and the very real, revolutionary stories from Black creatives.

In fashion, you’ll see influencers rocking razor thin glasses, low rise jeans, mini tops, sheer blouses, trucker hats, graphic polos, and colorful knit sweaters. All these styles have made a comeback in fast fashion and on the runway.

[Credits In Order: Christina Aguilera shot by Kevin Mazur for Getty, Bella Hadid Shot by Bella Hadid, Tyler Mcgillivery featured in Kendam.com, Nick Knight for Christian Dior 2001]

Legacy brands like The Gap, Juicy Couture, Champion, and Marni all have seen significant brand reinvigorations—a testament to their evolving strategic multimedia partnerships, and modernized creative direction.

In film and television, we’re seeing a dizzying number of sequels, expansions, spin offs, and remakes of beloved franchises that brought us joy. Films like Lord of the Rings, Hocus Pocus, Star Wars, and Gladiator have seen significant expansion in the past few years. While some films and series have had success while others flopped, studios continue to seek existing beloved franchises and reinvent them for a modern audience.

Today’s rising pop girlies like Beabadoobea, Olivia Rodrigo, and Doechii are heavily inspired by the aesthetics and sounds of their predecessors like Blink-182, P!nk, No Doubt, and Missy Elliot—with their own twist. You’ll definitely see 30+ year olds and pre-teens screaming along to Good 4 U (guilty as charged).

Nostalgia is a creative movement—a multisensory Renaissance that brings us joy and a sense of community in spite of the troubles that we experience today. In 15 years, we’ll have gone through another revolution in the trend cycle and nostalgia will have a completely different meaning but for now, we move forward embracing this era of new and old, one jelly-shoed step at a time.

Find Comfort And Creativity In Your Nostalgia

We’ve seen how creative industries can pour countless resources into recreating that feeling of nostalgia. It’s a powerful truth that can be harnessed for your creative pursuits. Whether you’re a content creator looking to get that Y2K vibe or just looking for a creative outlet, Picsart has a ton of filters, stickers, fonts, backgrounds and much more to capture that nostalgic feeling.

Producing content is every creative’s favorite part of marketing. Choosing fonts and colors that pair well together, creating copy that you know will resonate well with your audience, and tweaking visuals until they’re just right can lead to a special kind of satisfaction when you see the likes start to creep up and the comments begin to pour in. However, getting started can sometimes feel impossible, especially if you have no prior content experience. Here are ten ways you can make sure that you’re making the most of your social media content, whether you’re a pro, or a design newbie.

Use the psychology of colors and fonts

You don’t have to be a psychologist to understand the basics of colors for branding and how it relates to our perceptions. Use the colors and fonts that best represent your brand, whether to create a sense of sophistication, or to replicate the feel of nature.

Make the most of templates and brand kits to save time

Tailored templates and brand kits can be a lifesaver, especially when you’re short on time. Prepare a range of editable templates, ready for when you need to post a reactive piece, or even just to improve your processes.

Caption length: know how long your post should be

The ideal caption length depends on the platform and your audience. Shorter, snappier captions work well on platforms like Twitter (X) and Instagram, whereas longer-form storytelling performs better on LinkedIn and Facebook. When in doubt, test different lengths and analyze engagement levels to determine what works best for your brand.

Use best practices for video content

If you only follow a few simple steps, use these three for short form videos:

  • Grab attention fast with a hook to interest viewers in the first few seconds.
  • Make it sound-off friendly by using captions, so your message is clear without audio.
  • Keep your content engaging, don’t fall into the trap of rambling or including unnecessary clips.

Batch content to save time

Creating multiple pieces of content in one go can help regulate your workflow and keep your posting schedule consistent. Set aside a few hours to a day at a time to brainstorm, design, and schedule multiple posts at once. This saves time and allows you to maintain a steady presence online without scrambling for last-minute ideas.

Humanize your brand with user-generated content (UGC) and employee-generated content (EGC)

UGC and EGC can add an authentic feeling to your brand’s social media presence. Share user photos and videos, or highlight behind-the-scenes moments from your team. This helps to build trust by creating an inclusive feel to your content.

Create shareable posts with value (e.g. infographics)

People love to share content that provides value. Educational infographics, quick tips, and how-to guides tend to perform well because they offer useful information in a quick and visually appealing format. Ensure your graphics are easy to read and digest, and don’t overload them with too much text.

Mix your content up with polls, questions, and stickers to prompt engagement

Social media is a two-way conversation, and engagement is key to building a loyal following. Incorporate interactive elements like polls, question stickers, and quizzes to encourage audience participation. These tools make your content more interesting and help boost visibility through heightened engagement.

Stay consistent with your branding across all visuals

A cohesive identity helps to build recognition. From color schemes to typography, make sure your brand’s aesthetic remains consistent across all social media channels. This establishes credibility and makes your branding recognizable.

Learn the basics of video editing

Good editing can take your content to new heights, but over-editing can have the opposite effect. Stick to clean, high-quality visuals without excessive filters or unnatural saturation. Keep clean to keep your videos clear and easy to watch.

With these ten pointers, you can be sure that your content will hit the mark. No matter whether you’re looking to increase visibility on social media, or hoping to build a loyal community, these steps can help you to achieve a cohesive brand presence across your social media channels. Use these tips as guidance to inform your social media content strategy, and make sure to stay consistent to see the results. Happy creating!

Are you looking to start out on social media? Or you might be a long-time user thinking, “How can I improve my social media strategy?” Knowing exactly how to position yourself on different platforms can be tough, but we’re here to help. Going in blind and hoping for the best may work for some, but for most, successful strategies require planning and analysis to help reach goals and targets. Take a look at some of these social media strategy fundamentals for inspiration!

Understand your audience: create personas

Starting off with one of the most crucial questions for every brand when it comes to the fundamentals of their social media marketing strategy: who are you targeting? This will look different for most businesses and brands, but to stay competitive with others in your industry, you should know your customer inside and out. By considering their pain points, wants and needs, you can start to develop your audience personas. Create characters and name them. With each piece of content, ask yourself would this appeal to the characters?

Start off strong with a SWOT analysis

Some love them, some hate them, but there’s no denying that a SWOT analysis is an exceptionally useful tool when starting any communications or marketing strategy. By assessing strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, you can begin to structure your time and planning to allow for the best results. Use this to refer back to to help you stay on track. Look up templates online to help you get started. Create new SWOT analyses as your social media marketing evolves.

Choose the right platforms for your goals (you don’t need to be on them all)

Choosing exactly which platforms your brand should be on will depend on a number of factors. These may include how large your social media team is, the nature of your business, who your target market is, what your goals are, to name a few. Now you know who your audience is, you should be able to narrow down your priority platforms. If you’re a clothing brand looking to reach a Gen Z crowd who are into pop culture, TikTok may be for you. If you’re a B2B SaaS company, LinkedIn would be the obvious choice. You don’t need to be everywhere at once. Pick 1 to 3 platforms to start off with, and put the time and effort into growing your presence.

Campaigns and day-to-day posting look different: they’re sisters not twins

These two things are different, but are often thought of as the same. Your everyday content strategy should act as the ongoing conversation between your brand and its audience, whereas a campaign should portray a specific message, and should usually run for a limited period of time. Creating assets that are true to your brand, but stand out from your usual posts. Run a campaign when there’s a certain action that you’re looking to drive.

Set measurable goals and objectives for campaigns

There’s one overarching way to tell if your campaign has been successful: data. Setting clear goals for key metrics will help you to understand what’s performing well in your campaign, and what needs achieving. With a clear objective in mind, you can set smaller targets to reach along the way. If something’s not working, switch it up, and if your campaign doesn’t perform as well as you’d hoped, break it down and look to figure out what can be changed for next time.

Create a consistent and maintainable brand voice

A brand voice should remain constant, while a brand tone may be adapted depending on the situation. Create a list of key words that align with your brand that can be used frequently in your copy, as well as a list of words or phrases to avoid. Once you’ve nailed the voice, consider how the tone should change depending on the platform, the reason for communication, and your audience. To help, think of your brand as a person. Their voice is the way they talk, and the tone is how they adjust this depending on their mood, surroundings, or who they’re speaking to.

Optimize your social media profiles for professionalism and clarity

If you’re on more than one social media platform, make sure that your messaging is aligned. If you have a tagline, make sure to include it, and check that your branding is cohesive across channels. Your profile image acts as a sign post to those who are actively looking for your brand.

The basics of posting: frequency and timing

Now, there are really no black and white rules that determine what’s right or wrong when it comes to the amount you should post. Instead, look at the platform and how often you want to share updates. For TikTok, anything goes. Increased frequency is often rewarded by the algorithm. Here, posting up to 3 times per day will benefit your brand, whereas on a more B2B-oriented platform like LinkedIn, fewer posts (1-3) per week can be better for visibility and engagement.

Hashtags: don’t over do it

Use hashtags strategically. Consider the message you’re trying to share and add the tags that are most relevant and will help your visibility. Overuse of hashtags can make your content appear unprofessional and spam-like. Using a campaign hashtag, one that is specific to your brand, and one on the broader topic will often suffice.

Rookie mistakes and common pitfalls

This covers a whole range of minor errors that can impact your social media outputs. These include spelling and grammatical mistakes, poor video and image quality, and inconsistency. Although each of these individually may seem like small issues, when added together, they can harm trust with your audience. Use tools like ChatGPT for spelling and grammar, check the lighting when shooting, and create guidelines to refer back to to address these.

Now the basics are covered, it’s time to get to work! Look at your current social media accounts, assess your competitors’ outputs, and figure out which platforms and what content works best for you. There’s no one-size-fits-all strategy, so it’s important to create one tailored to your own goals. Whether you’re looking to promote brand awareness or increase sales, there’s an option for everyone. Happy strategizing!

Your logo is an important part of your brand identity. People see it and immediately associate it with your brand. Think of some of the iconic logos that dominate the market. Nike, Apple, McDonald’s. These logos are simple, yet powerful and instantly recognizable.

A good logo can set you apart from your competitors. It can come to represent more than just the product or service you sell. A solid logo can convey emotions, values, and even a lifestyle.

There are several different types of logos, each with its own unique characteristics and purposes. In this article, we will explore the 7 most common types of logos and provide tips on how to create your own captivating logo.

Does your logo really matter that much? Is it really so important? Yes, it is. Here’s why.

Your logo is an encapsulation of your brand. It’s all your brand values and personality wrapped up in one, single image. That image can make people feel certain ways and do different things. Your logo helps create the first impression people have of your brand. And, as we all know, first impressions are crucial.

For example, a big, bold logo can convey strength and aggression. A slight, elegant logo can convey elegance and beauty. A colorful, playful logo can convey fun and excitement. Your logo sets the tone for how people perceive your brand.

Your logo is also a visual representation of your business. It can be used on everything from business cards to billboards and will be seen by potentially millions of people. The right logo can make your business stick in people’s minds, while a bad one can easily be forgotten.

So yeah, you could say that your logo matters.

7 types of logos every brand should know

Logos can be broken down into seven different types.

Letterforms

If your company’s name is well-known, a letterform logo might be perfect for you. Letterform logos use a single letter (almost always the first one) to represent the brand. Think Facebook. Netflix. McDonald’s. Pinterest. All brands represented by a single, recognizable letter. This type of logo is simple, easily identifiable, and can quickly become synonymous with the brand.

Letterform icons are easily scalable since they’re only a single letter and not an image or word. They work well for app icons, social media profile pictures, etc.

Should you use a letterform icon for your brand? It depends on how much cache your brand has. If your brand is at least somewhat well-known, then it might make sense to use a single, stylized letter to represent your brand.

Wordmarks

Another type of logo is the wordmark. These are logos that use a stylized version of the company’s name to represent the brand. Think Google, Coca-Cola, and Disney. Wordmarks often incorporate unique fonts, color schemes, and sometimes additional design elements.

Wordmark logos are great for companies with easily recognizable names or those looking to establish their name in the market. They can also be easily incorporated into slogans and taglines.

With wordmarks, you have a couple of different options regarding the specific font you use. You can create a custom-designed font that you and only you use for your brand. Or, you can use a pre-existing font and slightly alter it to fit your brand’s aesthetic. Both options have their own benefits, so it ultimately depends on what best represents your brand.

Lettermarks/monogram

Lettermarks are similar to letterforms but include a brand’s initials rather than just a single letter. Think IBM, HBO, NASA, or CIA (just had to include that one for fun). Like letterforms, lettermarks can be composed of a custom-designed font or you can use a pre-existing font and tweak it a bit to make it your own.

Lettermarks can be a great option for brands with long names or those looking to create a more minimalistic and modern logo. They are also easily recognizable and can be used on various marketing materials.

Symbols/pictorial marks

Logo symbols are another type of logo commonly used by companies. A logo symbol is an image or icon or symbol that somehow represents who the brand is or what they do. Usually, these types of logos are a real-world object, as opposed to something totally abstract.

Brands that use logo symbols include Apple, Shell, and Target. When should we use a symbol? If you want to create a lasting impression for people, a symbol may be a great choice. Symbols can also help you stand out from the crowd and differentiate your brand from competitors. However, if your brand is new or relatively unknown, it may not have the same impact as using a wordmark or letterform.

Abstract logos

Everyone recognizes the Nike Swoosh even though the symbol isn’t any specific object in the real world. Nike has built up so much brand power and equity that they no longer need any accompanying text. The symbol alone is enough.

Abstract logos involve creating a unique shape or design element that doesn’t necessarily represent anything specific but has significant meaning for your brand. They are often eye-catching and can stand out from other more traditional logo types. The Olympics are another example of an abstract logo that everyone recognizes.

When considering an abstract logo, it’s important to make sure it still represents your brand’s identity and values. Sometimes these types of logos can be ambiguous and may not resonate with everyone.

Mascot

A mascot is an illustrated character, real or made-up, that acts as some sort of ambassador for the brand. Brands like KFC and Pringles use mascots to represent them, giving their brand a fun and playful personality.

Mascots can be great for creating emotional connections with consumers, especially children who may become attached to the character. However, they may not be suitable for all industries or demographics. It’s important to consider your target audience and whether a mascot will resonate with them.

Combination Marks

The final type of logo is combination marks. As you probably guessed, combination marks bring together both text and images into a single logo. You can combine mascots with lettermarks, wordmarks, or abstract symbols to create a unique and versatile logo. Examples of combination marks include the logos for Adidas, Burger King, and Doritos.

These types of logos offer the best of both worlds – a memorable image and clear brand name. They can be more complex and require skilled design work, but they can also leave a lasting impression on consumers.

How to generate your own logo with Picsart

You don’t have to be a professionally-trained graphic designer to create a great logo for your brand. With Picsart, you can make a logo that captures all your brand represents.

One simple way to get a powerful logo for your brand is to use our Logo Generator. You only need to input a small amount of information, like the name of your company, a few details about your brand, and what you think the ideal logo might look like. Once you’ve done that, simply hit “Generate” and watch the magic happen.

Of course, if you want to be a little more hands-on with your logo design you can do that as well. You can start with one of our professionally designed logo templates and then customize the fonts, colors, and images until you have a logo that perfectly represents the essence of your brand.

And if you want to start from scratch with your logo, you’re going to want to check out our AI tools and design tools. They make it incredibly easy to take the logo that’s in your mind and turn it into something you can actually see and use.

Conclusion

No matter what type of logo you choose, it’s important to remember that your logo is the face of your brand. It should accurately represent your brand’s identity, values, and personality. Take the time to carefully consider which type of logo will best serve your brand and make sure it resonates with your target audience.

Whether you opt for a wordmark, lettermark, abstract symbol, mascot, or combination mark, make sure it stands out and represents your brand effectively.

It can be tough to find the right calligraphy font. There are so many options out there, and it can be overwhelming to decide which one is best for your project. Some are too fancy, while others aren’t fancy enough.

Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.

In this guide, we will cover everything you need to know about calligraphy fonts – from their history and characteristics to how to choose the perfect font for your project.

What are calligraphy fonts?

Calligraphy fonts are typefaces that mimic handwritten calligraphy. These fonts have a unique and elegant style that makes them stand out from traditional typefaces. They feature flourishes, decorative elements, and varying stroke widths that give them a handcrafted look. Calligraphy fonts are commonly used in projects where an artistic touch is desired, such as wedding invitations, event posters, or branding materials.

Characteristics of calligraphy fonts

There are several features that make calligraphy fonts unique:

  • Flourishes: These are decorative elements that extend from letters or words, adding an ornamental touch to the font.
  • Varying stroke widths: Unlike traditional fonts where all strokes are the same width, calligraphy fonts have varying thicknesses which make them look more natural and hand-drawn.
  • Serifs or sans serifs: Calligraphy fonts can be either serif or sans-serif. Serifs are small lines at the ends of letters, while sans serifs do not have these extra lines.
  • Legibility: While some calligraphy fonts may sacrifice legibility for aesthetics, most modern calligraphy fonts are designed to be both beautiful and readable.

Tips for pairing calligraphy fonts with serif and sans serif fonts

Calligraphy fonts can be paired with both serif and sans serif fonts to great effect. When choosing a font pairing, keep the following tips in mind:

  • Contrast: Look for fonts that offer contrast in style and weight. Pairing a delicate calligraphy font with a bold sans-serif font can create an eye-catching combination.
  • Harmony: While contrast is important, it’s also essential to ensure that the fonts complement each other. Aim for harmony between the two fonts, rather than clashing styles.
  • Hierarchy: Consider the hierarchy of your design when choosing font pairings. Use a more decorative calligraphy font for headings or titles and a simpler serif or sans-serif font for body text to create visual interest and balance.

Interested in using calligraphy fonts in your designs?

Calligraphy fonts can make any design look elegant and sophisticated. Picsart has a huge library of fonts, including hundreds of calligraphy fonts. Use these fonts with our text editor tool to add them to all of your beautiful designs.

Conclusion

Calligraphy fonts bring a timeless elegance to any design, whether you’re creating wedding invitations, branding materials, or eye-catching social media posts. With so many styles to choose from—ranging from flowing, romantic scripts to bold, expressive hand-lettering—there’s a calligraphy font to match every creative vision.

As you explore these fonts, remember to consider their legibility, stroke variation, and how they pair with other typefaces. The right calligraphy font can elevate your design, making it feel polished, professional, and uniquely yours.

Do you ever wonder why some text just ‘works’ while others fall flat on their face? It’s all about typography, the art and science of arranging text. Choosing a font just won’t cut it, you need to arrange your text in a way that boosts its readability, adds to the aesthetics and gives your brand a unique identity.

But what does typography mean, and why does it matter so much in design? Let’s break it down, explore typography design principles, and share actionable typography tips to elevate your projects.

Typography for the layman

What is typography? To put it simply, typography is a combination of style, arrangement, and the overall appearance of the text. This could involve selecting from a variety of typefaces, tweaking the spaces and then structuring the layout to improve your messaging.

The tell-tale sign of typography that does its job is text that is not just readable but pleasing to the eyes. But wait- there’s more. Even though you might not notice it, Typography can often give you cues about what to do next.

Ever landed on a site and instantly knew where to focus? That’s typography guiding you. With tricks as simple as bold text, italics, or color; typography creates a hierarchy so you put your attention where it’s needed the most.

Why is design incomplete without typography?

It’s a shame to have an amazing design suffer because the typography just doesn’t hit the mark. Typography can make or break the impact you would like your designs to have. When you get typography right, you’ll see:

  •   Improved readability and user experience
  •   A stronger brand identity
  •   Better control of the reader’s attention
  •   The right emotions and tone coming across
  •   A more professional and polished finished product.

Typography can change the way people engage with your messaging. Play around with the typography and you can influence your brand perception however you want, just make sure you understand the principles of design for a fruitful outcome.

Typography lingo you need to know

To master typography, you must know what it is and how to use it. We’ve made it easier for you with our typography lingo cheat sheet, let’s take a look:

Typeface – Think of this as the “style” of the text. It can set the mood for your message and add personality to the text. For example, if you use a fancy typeface like Baskerville, it feels classy and formal, which is perfect for invitations. On the other hand, a fun typeface like Comic Sans is great for a kid’s book.

Font – The font is just a variation of the typeface. It can influence the weight, style, and the size of your text. Such as a bold font will make your text stand out, and if you want to give a softer look, you can use a light font, maybe even italics.

Leading – Every text looks best if it’s evenly spaced out and the space in between the lines is called the leading. Too little, and everything looks crammed together. Too much, and the text feels too spread out.

Kerning – Kerning is the space between the individual letters. If you’re not too careful, the letters can look awkward. So it is best to go for good kerning which makes the words easy to read and visually appealing.

Tracking – This controls the spacing across a whole word or sentence. Widening it makes text feel more open and airy, while tightening it gives a more compact look.

Typography principles- A checklist

When deciding on a typographical design, you might miss out on a lot of key components, which is why you MUST keep all the typography principles in mind before you start and after you finish. We have made a checklist that can help you:

✔ Readability – Use fonts and spacing that are easy to read.

✔ Contrast – Combine different font sizes and styles for visual interest.

✔ Alignment – Keep text consistently aligned (left, right, centered, or justified).

✔ Hierarchy – Guide readers using font weight, size, and color.

✔ Spacing – Adjust kerning, leading, and tracking for better clarity and flow.

For tools that simplify typography design, explore Picsart’s Design Tools.

Typography elements don’ts

Making mistakes is super common when it comes to typographical elements. Here are some Don’ts that you should avoid at all costs:

✖ Mix too many typefaces – Too many styles create inconsistency.
✖ Use tiny or oversized text – Both can make reading difficult.
✖ Ignore color contrast – Low contrast reduces readability.
✖ Overcrowd text – Too little white space makes designs look messy.
✖ Make lines too long or too short – Poor line length disrupts reading flow.

How to choose the right typeface

Do you face difficulty choosing the right types? There are so many to choose from! Here’s a step-by-step guide that helps you choose the right typeface every time:

  • Step 1
Brainstorm, think about whether your brand is playful or uber professional? Determining this will help you choose a typeface that reflects this identity.
  • Step 2
We all know how tempting it is to choose overly decorative fonts for body text, but they can be hard to read in long-form content.
  • Step 3
Compatibility is not just important in relationships. You need to pair your fonts in a way that they complement, not clash with each other.
  • Step 4
User experience is paramount so you need to check how your typeface looks on different screens (desktop, tablet, and mobile) to make sure they are readable everywhere.
  • Step 5
Two’s a pair and three’s a crowd. Stick to one or two fonts max to keep your design polished and professional.
Browse a variety of fonts and experiment with styles using Picsart’s Font Library.

Conclusion

Typography is the backbone of great design. It balances art and science, turning words into visuals that capture attention, set the mood, and make content effortlessly readable.

By now, you’ve learned the essentials:
✔ Hierarchy, spacing, and contrast aren’t just jargon—they’re your tools for guiding the reader’s eye.
✔ Mistakes matter—overcrowded text, clashing fonts, or poor readability can ruin even the best designs.
✔ Readability is non-negotiable—if your audience has to squint, they’ll scroll away.

Ready to level up? Use this typography guide and experiment fearlessly with Picsart’s design tools. Tweak your fonts, adjust spacing, and create text that doesn’t just look good—it works.

Seven seconds. That’s the average amount of time a recruiter spends looking at a resume.

It can be really hard to make your resume stand out from the crowd. With so many applicants for a single job, you want to do everything in your power to ensure that your resume catches the attention of the hiring manager.

One way to make your resume stand out is through the use of color.

In this article, we’ll discuss the best color for your resume to make it stand out and how you can incorporate it effectively.

Need help crafting the perfect resume? Read “How to make a resume that lands jobs in 2025”!

Should resumes have color?

You may be wondering whether your resume should have color in the first place. And the answer is…maybe.

It depends on the industry in which you’re trying to get a job.

If you’re applying for a creative role, such as graphic design or marketing, incorporating color into your resume may be a good idea to showcase your creativity and design skills. However, if you’re applying for a more traditional or corporate job, sticking with black and white may be the safer choice.

It’s also important to consider the company culture of the organization you’re applying to. If they have a more relaxed and modern culture, using color in your resume may help you stand out in a positive way. On the other hand, if their culture is more conservative and formal, using too much color could potentially come across as unprofessional.

Before you put color in your resume, do research on both the industry and culture of the organization to determine if it’s appropriate.

Color psychology when choosing a color

When choosing the best colors for your resume, it can be helpful to consider color psychology. Essentially, color psychology states that different colors evoke different feelings in people. Some colors and color combinations are more attractive than others and are better for use on your resume.

Here’s a quick breakdown of some major colors and the psychology behind them:

  • Black: Elegant, sophisticated, powerful. Black may seem like a safe and neutral color, but when used correctly it can convey elegance and sophistication on your resume. However, too much black can come across as somber or cold.
  • White: Clean, minimalistic, modern. White is a clean and simple color that can give your resume a modern look. It’s also associated with purity and perfection, making it a good choice for industries such as technology or finance.
  • Gray: Professional, neutral, balanced. Gray is often seen as a professional and neutral color that conveys balance and stability. It’s a good choice for any resume but should be used in moderation to avoid appearing dull.
  • Red: Fiery, restless, the most intense out of all the warm colors. Be very careful when using red because it can overwhelm other colors on your resume.  It can also come across as aggressive and passionate, so it may not be the best choice for a corporate or traditional job.
  • Orange: Friendly, energetic, optimistic. Orange is a great color to use if you want to convey enthusiasm and positivity on your resume. However, too much orange can be overwhelming, so use it sparingly.
  • Yellow: Cheerful, youthful, confident. Yellow is a bright and attention-grabbing color that can add a pop of excitement to your resume. But like orange, too much yellow can be overpowering and should be used in moderation.
  • Green: Fresh, natural, harmonious. Green is often associated with nature and growth, making it a great color for industries related to sustainability, health, and wellness. It can also represent balance and harmony, so it’s a safe choice for any resume.
  • Blue: Trustworthy, calm, professional. Blue is often considered a safe and reliable color that can convey trust and dependability on your resume. It’s also the most universally liked color, making it a good choice for any industry or job.
  • Purple: Creative, luxurious, royal. Purple has long been associated with royalty and wealth, but it can also represent creativity and imagination. This makes it a good choice for resumes in creative fields such as design or advertising.
  • Pink: Playful, feminine, compassionate. Pink is often seen as a feminine color, but it can also evoke feelings of playfulness and compassion. It’s a good choice for industries that value empathy and creativity, such as healthcare or education.
  • Brown: Earthy, dependable, trustworthy. Brown is often associated with the earth and can convey dependability and trustworthiness on your resume. It’s also a versatile color that can work well in many industries.

When creating your resume, think about the feelings you want it to evoke in the person who sees it.  Do you want them to sense professionalism? Passion? Creativity? Carefully consider which colors are best suited to the company to which you’re applying and shape your resume accordingly.

Best resume color combinations for a professional look

So, given the above, what color combinations should you use in your resume to create a professional look?  Here are some effective combinations to consider:

  • Navy and white: The classic combination of navy and white can create a professional, clean look. Navy exudes professionalism while white adds a touch of sophistication.
  • Black and gray: Another classic combination, black and gray can convey reliability and stability. This color scheme works well for traditional industries such as finance or law.
  • Burgundy and cream: For a more unique option, consider using burgundy with cream accents. Burgundy is associated with elegance, while cream adds a touch of warmth to the overall look.
  • Dark green and gold: Dark green symbolizes growth and success, while gold conveys luxury and prestige. This combination can work well for industries such as marketing or advertising.
  • Charcoal and red: Charcoal is a modern twist on traditional black and gray, while red adds a bold pop of color. This combination can convey confidence and determination, making it a good choice for sales or management positions.

Remember, the key is to choose colors that complement each other and align with your personal branding. Avoid using too many colors or overly bright shades, as this can distract from the content of your resume.

Ultimately, the goal is to create a visually appealing resume that effectively showcases your skills and experience in a professional manner. So be intentional with your color choices and use them strategically to make your resume stand out from your competition.

Best resume colors based on industry

As we’ve discussed, there are certain colors that are better fitted for specific industries and some that shouldn’t be used at all. Let’s take a closer look at the best resume color choices according to different industries:

  • Finance/accounting: Blue, navy, and gray
  • Law: Black, dark blue, and white
  • Marketing/advertising/PR: Red, orange, and yellow
  • Technology: Green, purple, and gray
  • Healthcare: Green, blue, and white
  • Education: Blue, green, and white
  • Hospitality: Gold, beige, and light blue
  • Retail: Red, orange, and black
  • Creative/design: Purple, pink, and turquoise
  • Real estate: Green, brown, and gray
  • Manufacturing: Gray, steel blue, and black
  • Non-profit: Teal, purple, and white
  • Sports/fitness: Red, black, and white

Of course, these are just general guidelines and you should always consider your personal branding when choosing colors for your resume. However, keeping in mind the industry you’re applying for can help you make a more strategic color choice.

How to use color correctly in a resume

When creating your resume, you shouldn’t just splash colors in random places, even if the colors go together. You need to use colors strategically. Here are some tips to help you use color correctly in your resume:

  • Choose a color scheme: Select 2-3 colors that complement each other and use them consistently throughout your resume. This will create a cohesive and visually appealing design. If you’re not sure what colors go together well, check out our professionally-designed resume templates.
  • Use color sparingly: Too much color can be distracting and take away from the important information on your resume. Stick to using color for headings, borders, and accents.
  • Highlight important information: Use color to draw attention to key points or
achievements in your experience section. This will make them stand out more to hiring managers.
  • Use light backgrounds with dark text: Make sure your text is easily readable by using darker colors for text on a lighter background. This will ensure your resume is easy on the eyes and professional-looking.
  • Stick to standard colors: While being creative with color can make your resume stand out, it’s important to stick to more traditional colors for a professional look. Stick to shades of blue, gray, black, and white.
  • Consider the industry you’re applying for: As mentioned earlier, different industries may have certain color associations or preferences. Consider this when choosing your color scheme.

It’s also important to note that some companies or hiring managers may prefer a more minimalistic approach with no colors at all. In this case, it’s best to stick to a simple black-and-white design.

Remember, your resume should make a strong first impression and showcase your skills and qualifications. So whether you choose a classic color scheme or opt for something more eye-catching, make sure it represents you accurately and effectively communicates your strengths to potential employers.

Experiment with different colors and combinations until you find the one that best reflects your personal style and professional goals. With the right color palette, your resume can become an impressive visual representation of who you are as a candidate.

Resizing an image is a common task for many content creators. Whether you are a blogger, social media marketer, or someone who simply likes to share photos online, knowing how to resize an image can be useful.

Why resize images

Resizing images is essential for optimizing performance, storage, and quality across different platforms. Large files can slow down websites, take up unnecessary space, and make sharing difficult. By changing image size or compressing files, you can maintain quality while reducing size.

Whether you’re preparing visuals for web use, social media, or email attachments, resizing helps improve efficiency without compromising clarity. If you’re wondering how to resize photos, various tools make the process quick and simple. By optimizing your images, you enhance user experience, speed up uploads, and free up valuable storage space—all while keeping your visuals sharp and professional.

In this guide, we will walk you through the steps of resizing an image using Picsart.

How to resize an image with Picsart web

Step 1: Upload your image to Picsart

The first step in the process of resizing an image is to upload your photo to Picsart. To do this, select the “Uploads” option on the left-hand bar. Once you’ve done this, upload your image. When you’ve done that, the image will appear in the “Upload” section of photos.

Step 2: Resize your image

The next step is to click on the “Resize” option on the top left-hand section of your screen.

When you’ve done that, you’ll see multiple sizes to which you can automatically resize the image. You have dozens of different options to resize the image, including:

  • Custom
  • Youtube thumbnail
  • Facebook profile pic
  • Banner
  • Large rectangle
  • LinkedIn post
  • X post

You can also resize entire templates for different platforms. The process is the same as resizing an image. Select your template, hit the “Resize” button in the top left, and then change the size of the template to match your platform of choice.

How to resize an image with Picsart mobile app

Step 1: Select your image

Select the image that you wish to resize. You can either upload a new image or select one of the images you’ve already uploaded.

Step 2: Select “Tools”

In the bottom left-hand part of the screen, you’ll see an icon that says “Tools”. Choose that icon.

Step 3: Select “Resize”

Once the Tools menu is up, select the “Resize” icon. Once you’ve done that, simply input the new dimensions of the image.

How to resize an image’s file size

Picsart also makes it really easy to resize the file size of an image. Once you are satisfied with your image and how it looks, you need to hit the “Export” button in the top right corner of the screen.

Once you have done that, select the “Size and Resolution” drop-down.

From there you can change the size by sliding the circle to the left and the right. Sliding it to the right makes the file larger. Sliding it to the left makes the file smaller.

Conclusion

Resizing images doesn’t have to be complicated. With tools like Picsart, you can quickly adjust dimensions and file sizes to suit your needs—whether for social media, websites, or personal use. By following these simple steps, you ensure your visuals remain high-quality while optimizing storage and performance. If you ever find yourself wondering how to reduce image size, remember that resizing not only improves efficiency but also enhances the overall user experience. Now that you know the process, you can confidently resize images for any platform, making your content look professional and polished with minimal effort.

Welcome to our final installment of Let’s Make It: Taropy by Melody, the series that has followed Picsart’s very own Melody Nazarian, as she’s taken her first steps into the world of entrepreneurship. As we wrap up the series, we look back at Melody’s journey and hear her top tips. What started as an inspired idea, tarot reading with a creative twist, quickly transformed into a growing business, thanks to dedication, passion, and the support of Picsart’s Small Business Starter Pack. Now, as Melody reflects on her experiences, we get a closer look at the lessons learned, the tools that helped her succeed, and the advice she has for aspiring creators.

Leaning into the Learning Curve

Starting a business comes with challenges, and for Melody, one of the biggest was mastering video content. With video being the focus of her marketing efforts, nailing this was crucial in appealing to her target audience. On her most significant areas of growth, Melody shared that these included:

“Shooting and editing video content consistently and perfecting my video editing skills. Before this, I had never posted videos on TikTok or anywhere else! In the beginning it was a bit awkward but over time it became more natural.”

To create her video content, Melody searched for a trusty companion that would serve her needs.

“I never thought I’d be such good friends with Picsart’s video editor (I used to be scared of it!) but I’ve come to not only learn a whole lot about video editing, but I’ve come to really enjoy it.”

Although Melody learned a lot about video editing and creating engaging content, she was also able to build on the skills that define her offering:

“My tarot reading skills. Looking back to when I first started this journey, I can’t believe how far I’ve come and how much I’ve learned about each card. I still have more learning and growing to do, but I’m proud of my journey so far.”

The Power of Picsart

When growing Taropy by Melody, Picsart’s range of tools played a fundamental role. Melody’s top go-tos are:

By finding the tools that work best for her, Melody was able to build out her own toolkit that would serve her for months to come. With each providing unique capabilities, these tools enable users to create great content without extensive design knowledge.

How the Small Business Starter Pack Made a Difference

For Melody, the Small Business Starter Pack was the spark of motivation that pushed her to take action. With chapters focusing on every aspect of starting a business, from creating a strategic plan, to automating with AI tools, knowing where to begin has never been easier.

“It was one of the catalysts in my journey to get things going. The universe inspired me to start tarot reading. Simultaneously, I was presented with the Small Business Starter Pack, which motivated me to take the first step by offering helpful tips and showcasing small business owners who went for it. I still look back on the notes I took while reading the pack to guide me.”

Tips for Aspiring Creators

Melody’s biggest piece of advice? Consistency and authenticity.

“Pick a genre that is authentic to YOU and dedicate yourself to creating content on a daily basis. Try not to skip a day! It keeps you engaged, focused, disciplined, and inspired. Realize that you need to test a bunch of different styles and topics over time before you hone in on what works best for you and your audience. Try to spice up your content with various themes: educational, entertaining, inspiring, funny, etc. Whatever you do, don’t give up. Keep going, not because of the numbers (or lack thereof sometimes), but because you’re inspiring yourself and others!”

Embracing what makes you you is particularly important when building a personal brand. As Melody’s business is intertwined with her personal brand, keeping content true to her was a no-brainer.

No Regrets, Just Growth

Looking back, would Melody do anything differently? Not a thing.

“No, because I’m someone who never regrets anything I do; it’s all part of my journey, the wins and losses. They all help me grow and adapt and determine how to proceed in the future.”

Business owners will inevitably face challenges, but it’s how you approach and tackle them that will help to define your future strategies.

The Best Moments Along the Way

Of all the milestones, Melody highlights three that mean the most:

“First, being able to finally shun my fear of being seen or judged and just going for it! Also, connecting with amazing people who have opened up to me, and allowed me to help them on their self-discovery journey. Finally, discovering my new love for video editing!”

A Final Thank You

As the Taropy by Melody journey comes to an end, Melody has one last message for her supporters:

“Thank you to anyone who followed my Taropy by Melody journey! I hope you learned a little and are inspired to start your passion project already. You’re worth it! Everyone deserves a life they love!”

While this may be the final blog post in the series, Melody’s journey is only just beginning. Stay tuned on the Picsart blog for guides, how-tos and more, helping you to bring your creative visions to life.

You may believe words are enough to tell the complete story but that’s where fonts come in. Fonts make your words sing and flow with the rhythm you choose. Want to make an impact with a bang? Use Black Ops One! Or do you want to give your text an artistic flair? Use ‘Great Vibes’.

Do you see how the tone of your voice changes as you read that? That’s exactly what fonts do, they give your text a personality. It doesn’t matter if you are designing a logo or coming up with a creative social media carousel, your fonts will say what your words might miss.

If you want your graphics to make a lasting impression, read on to learn all the different font types, what makes them unique and how best to use them. Plus, you can also discover how Picsart’s design tools and font library can turn your projects around.

What are font types?

Each font is different from the other. They’re made unique just like your messaging. Fonts are categorized based on typefaces and design features such as serifs, strokes, and spacing.

With every font style, you can express different emotions and purposes. And to make sure your message is well received, you need to choose the right type of font. Here is an introduction to the six main font categories:

1. Serif font types

You can immediately spot Serif Font types by looking for small decorative strokes at the end of the letters. These fonts are the most common choice for traditional industries like law, publishing, or luxury brands.

Where to use them: For a sophisticated impact in printed materials, logos, and headings. Picsart offers great serif options like Playfair Display and Merriweather.

Look at: Tiffany & Co. This brand is elegance personified, just like its font!

2. Sans serif font types

Minimalist fonts are trending, and Sans serif fonts are exactly what you need to cut through the competition. These fonts are clean and modern, that’s why you are mostly likely to find them on digital platforms, tech startups, and minimalist designs.

Where to use them: Great for body text, apps, and logos where a sleek, minimalist look is desired.

3. Script font types

Do you want to add a little personalization to your invitations? Script fonts are the way to go! These font types mimic handwriting, adding personality to invitations, logos, creative projects and more!

Where to use them: Elegant event invitations and custom logos. These fonts add a personal, sophisticated feel—just like a beautifully written signature!

  4. Display font types

Nothing grabs attention better than Display fonts. They are just what you need; bold, artistic and LOUD. Look at a poster around you, you’re sure to find it.

Where to use them: Perfect for posters, headlines, packaging, and branding where you want to make a bold statement. These fonts are designed to stand out, so use them sparingly for maximum impact!

5. Handwritten fonts

Do you want to give your words a more personal feel? Send handwritten notes, but the handwritten font will do the same thing. If your brand wants a more casual or approachable vibe handwritten fonts will do the trick.

Where to use them: They’re great for social media, branding and even invites too, really anywhere you want to feel more personal and real.

6. Monospaced font types

Want a font that takes you back to the good old days? Use Monospaced font types. They have uniform spacing which makes them ideal for coding, retro designs, or tech branding.

Where to use them: Try these fonts for coding interfaces, tech brands, and anything with a typewriter or minimalist feel. Use them to create a retro or futuristic look!

Easter is a time of renewal, joy, and celebration. Whether you’re designing a festive invitation, a church bulletin, or a cheerful social media post, the right font can bring your message to life. From bold and eye-catching to whimsical and warm, Easter fonts help capture the energy, tradition, and excitement of the season.

Some Easter fonts radiate the boldness of Easter morning, declaring joy as confidently as a sunrise service. Others carry a playful, handwritten charm, reminiscent of Easter egg hunts and heartfelt notes tucked into baskets. And for those seeking something sleek and modern, there are typefaces that embrace the fresh start of spring, bringing a contemporary edge to Easter designs.

No matter the style you’re looking for, there’s a font that perfectly expresses the spirit of Easter. Below, we’ve rounded up a collection of 15 happy Easter fonts that bring joy, warmth, and a little bit of Easter magic to any project.

Archivo Black (Use this font)

Easter is a time of bold declarations—of joy, renewal, and unshakable hope—and Archivo Black embodies that spirit in every stroke. This thick, attention-grabbing sans-serif doesn’t whisper; it proclaims. Just like the bright colors of Easter eggs or the resounding chorus of a Sunday morning hymn, Archivo Black stands confident and unwavering, making every word a celebration.

Short Stack (Use this font)

This is much celebration, joy, warmth, and a little bit of whimsy during Easter. Short Stack captures that feeling perfectly, with its friendly, hand-drawn style that feels as inviting as an Easter brunch table filled with treats. Its slightly uneven strokes give it a homemade, heartfelt touch, like a handwritten note tucked inside an Easter basket.

Cutive Mono(Use this font)

Easter is a bridge between the past and the present, a time of reflection and renewal. Cutive Mono carries that same sense of heritage, with its typewriter-inspired design that feels both vintage and enduring. Its evenly spaced, monospaced letters create a steady rhythm, like the familiar verses of an Easter hymn or the careful strokes of a handwritten Easter card passed down through generations.

Limelight (Use this font)

Renewal, joy, and a touch of spectacle. All these things accompany Easter. After all, what could be more exciting than the promise of new beginnings? Limelight captures that spirit with its vintage-inspired, high-contrast letterforms that feel straight out of an old-fashioned marquee. It’s the font that turns every announcement into a grand event, like the excitement of an Easter Sunday parade or the joyful reveal of a long-anticipated Easter egg hunt.

Kranky (Use this font)

Hidden eggs, joyful laughter, and moments of pure delight remind us that Easter is full of surprises. Kranky brings that same playful energy with its wobbly, hand-drawn charm that looks like it hopped straight out of a child’s imagination. It’s a little unpredictable, a little bouncy, and completely full of life, just like the excitement of kids dashing through the grass on an Easter egg hunt.

Just Another Hand (Use this font)

Many heartfelt connections are made on Easter. Shared meals, handwritten notes, and moments of reflection. Just Another Hand feels like a friendly touch, with its informal, handwritten style that brings a sense of closeness and sincerity. It’s the kind of font that feels like a quick note jotted down on a pastel-colored Easter card or a warm message left on the church welcome board.

Stroke Dimention (Use this font)

There’s something magical about the Easter season, with longer days, fresh blooms, and a sense of excitement in the air. Stroke Dimention captures that energy with its sleek, futuristic letterforms that feel dynamic and full of motion. Its angular, high-tech style makes it stand out, like the glow of sunrise on Easter morning or the thrill of a long-anticipated celebration.

Permanent Marker (Use this font)

Nothing says celebration like big, expressive strokes that feel alive with energy. Permanent Marker brings that sense of excitement with its thick, hand-drawn style, as if someone grabbed a marker and scrawled a joyful message across the sky. It’s confident, a little messy in the best way, and impossible to ignore—just like the enthusiasm of kids tearing into Easter baskets or the booming voices of a choir on Easter morning.

Love Ya Like A Sister (Use this font)

Some things in life just feel warm and familiar—like pastel Easter dresses, handwritten notes, and the joy of gathering with loved ones. Love Ya Like A Sister captures that same sense of closeness with its bubbly, hand-drawn letterforms that feel as if they were doodled with love. It’s casual, fun, and full of personality, like a heartfelt message scribbled on a homemade Easter card.

Luckiest Guy (Use this font)

Some fonts just know how to have a good time, and Luckiest Guy is one of them. With its chunky, oversized letters and playful curves, this font is as joyful as a sunny Easter morning. It practically leaps off the page, full of energy and excitement—just like the thrill of an Easter egg hunt or the laughter of kids running through the grass.

Unica One (Use this font)

There’s a quiet elegance to the Easter season—the soft pastels of spring, the gentle warmth of a sunrise, the feeling of renewal in the air. Unica One captures that same refined simplicity with its smooth, rounded letterforms and modern aesthetic. It’s clean and contemporary, yet welcoming, like a fresh start on Easter morning.

Waiting For the Sunrise

The name says it all. This font feels like the first light of Easter morning, full of promise, warmth, and renewal. With its flowing, slightly whimsical letterforms, Ready for the Sunrise carries the joy of new beginnings, like the soft glow of dawn breaking over a quiet church service or the excitement of children waking up to baskets full of surprises.

Meddon (Use This Font)

There’s something special about a handwritten note. It’s personal, thoughtful, and filled with meaning. Meddon carries that same heartfelt charm with its delicate, flowing script that feels like it was penned with care on an old-fashioned Easter card. Its graceful, slightly vintage strokes bring to mind soft candlelight, fresh spring florals, and the quiet reverence of Easter Sunday.

Nothing You Could Do (Use This Font)

Some messages feel best when they’re written by hand with love. Nothing You Could Do has that effortless, personal touch, like a note scribbled in a journal or a heartfelt Easter greeting from a friend. Its natural, slightly uneven strokes bring a sense of warmth and authenticity that makes any message feel more personal.

Orbitron (Use This Font)

Easter is a celebration of new beginnings and bright hope for the future. Orbitron captures that feeling with its modern, space-age letterforms that seem to glow with possibility. Its geometric precision and bold presence make it feel dynamic and forward-thinking, like the excitement of a sunrise service or the wonder of a star-filled Easter night.

For better or worse, LinkedIn now serves as your online resume. Millions of job seekers and recruiters use the site every day, and most job applications require your LinkedIn profile. If you want to have any chance of landing a solid job, you really do need to have to a highly optimized LinkedIn profile.

In this guide, we’ll discuss how to optimize your LinkedIn profile to make a strong first impression and stand out from the crowd.

The importance of optimizing your LinkedIn profile

Your LinkedIn profile serves as a digital resume for you, of sorts. It is often the first thing people see when they search for you on the internet. It also represents your personal brand. And when a person clicks on your profile, they immediately start forming an impression of you. You want that first impression to be a good one. Your profile should shine so that it stands out amidst millions of other profiles.

You also should optimize your profile for search purposes. Recruiters often use LinkedIn to search for potential employees, and having an optimized profile with relevant keywords can increase your chances of being found.

Finally, if you’re an entrepreneur or freelancer, your LinkedIn profile can attract new business. When potential clients see a highly polished profile that explains what you bring to the table, they’re more likely to want to hire you.

12 useful tips to optimize your LinkedIn profile

Now that you know the why, let’s talk about how to optimize your LinkedIn profile.

Select the perfect profile picture

Your profile picture conveys a lot about who you are and what you represent. It is almost always one of the first things people look at when they are browsing through LinkedIn profiles, and you want your picture to pop.

Here are a few quick tips about selecting the right profile picture:

  • Use our online design tools to help you create the best-looking version of your photos
  • Use a high-quality, professional-looking photo.
  • Make sure the photo is recent and accurately represents how you look now.
  • Smile! A smile can make you appear more approachable and friendly.
  • Avoid using group photos or photos with distracting backgrounds. You want the focus to be on you.
  • Be very careful about using a humorous picture as your profile pic. While it may make you stand out, it also might not be seen as professional.

Write a catchy headline

The headline is the text that appears directly below your name on your profile. It’s one of the most important parts of your profile because it summarizes who you are and what you do. It also appears next to your profile every time you post something or comment on something, so you want it to be powerful.

A great headline should be short, snappy, and descriptive. It should grab a reader’s attention and give them a clear idea of what value you can bring to them.

Don’t just list your job title for your LinkedIn headline. Instead, write a sentence that communicates what you for your clients/team/company. For example, “Empowering individuals to achieve their full potential” is much more intriguing than simply stating “Life Coach”.

Create a captivating LinkedIn banner

The next step in optimizing your LinkedIn profile is to create a fantastic LinkedIn banner. A LinkedIn banner is a large image that appears behind your profile picture. It’s another opportunity to showcase your personal brand and make a good first impression.

Choose an image that aligns with your industry or personal values. If you’re not sure how to create a good banner photo, use one of our professionally-designed LinkedIn templates. These LinkedIn banners allow you to easily customize and add your own personal touch. You can change the colors, fonts, and images until you have a LinkedIn banner that perfectly reflects who you are as a professional.

Turn your about section into a story

Your profile should be more than just a list of your achievements and job titles. It should tell a story about who you are, what drives you, and what makes you unique.

Use the About section to share your personal journey and how it has led you to where you are today. Use this space to showcase your personality, passions, and values. Explain why your work matters and how it helps people. This will help potential connections get to know the real you, beyond just your professional accomplishments.

Fill in your work experience

Your LinkedIn profile is about so much more than your work experience, BUT you still should fill in this section. You don’t have to include every job if you have a long and detailed work history. Instead, include jobs you’ve held that most demonstrate your expertise and are relevant to your current professional goals.

In each job description, use bullet points to highlight key accomplishments and responsibilities. Don’t just list the duties you had – focus on the results you achieved and how you added value to the company. This will give potential employers a better understanding of your skills and abilities.

Show off your skills

LinkedIn allows you to showcase your top skills on your profile. Take advantage of this feature by selecting skills that align with your industry or desired career path. These can include technical skills, soft skills, or any other competencies that set you apart from others.

Don’t be afraid to ask for endorsements from colleagues or supervisors who can vouch for these skills. This will add credibility to your profile and show that others recognize your abilities.

Also, make sure that you include any education or certifications you have obtained that help position you in the best light.

Share your work samples

If you have a portfolio or samples of your work, LinkedIn is the perfect place to showcase them. You can add media such as documents, presentations, videos, or images to your profile under each corresponding job experience. This will allow potential employers to see the quality of your work and get a sense of what you can bring to their company.

Additionally, you can also share links to articles or publications that you have written or been featured in. This demonstrates your knowledge and expertise in your field and adds credibility to your profile.

Choose your URL

LinkedIn allows you to choose the URL of your LinkedIn profile, and you want to take advantage of this. Personalize your URL with your name or a variation of it so that it is easy for others to find and remember. This will also make your profile appear higher in search results.

Avoid jargon

Wherever possible, avoid using jargon in your profile. Don’t talk about how achieved “synergy” between departments or how you “utilized leverage” in a project. These buzzwords can make your profile seem generic and unauthentic. Instead, use clear and concise language to describe your experiences and accomplishments.

Ask for recommendations

When you optimize your LinkedIn profile, don’t forget to ask for recommendations from others. LinkedIn has a feature that allows you to directly ask contacts for recommendations, which can then be displayed on your profile. These recommendations act as social proof, demonstrating that you really do have the abilities and skills you claim to have.

Show off your love for learning

Another way to optimize your LinkedIn profile is to show off any LinkedIn courses you’ve taken. After you complete a course, you’re given the option of adding the certification/completion to your profile. While this may seem like a small thing, it demonstrates your willingness to learn and improve yourself, which is a highly desirable trait in any professional.

Brag about where you’ve been featured

If you’ve been featured in any publications, you have the opportunity to show it off in the “Featured” section of your LinkedIn profile. This is a great place to highlight any articles you’ve written, whitepapers you’ve contributed to, or podcasts you’ve been featured on. This adds credibility to your profile and showcases your expertise in a particular subject area.

How to optimize your LinkedIn strategy for greater visibility in the feed

Just because you’ve optimized your LinkedIn profile doesn’t mean that you’ll show up in people’s feeds. To increase your visibility and reach on the platform, you need to have a strong LinkedIn strategy. Here are some tips to help you get started:

Engage with others’ content

LinkedIn is all about engagement. If you want to show up in people’s feeds, you need to comment, like, and share other people’s content. This increases your visibility while also helping you build relationships with other professionals at the same time.

Post regularly and consistently

Consistency is key when it comes to building a strong presence on LinkedIn. Post regularly, whether it’s once a day or a few times a week. Doing this keeps you top of mind for your connections and help you stay relevant in their feeds.

Add value to your audience

If you really want to succeed with LinkedIn, you have to consistently provide value to your audience. Share insights you’ve gained over your career, discuss current issues, and offer advice. By consistently sharing valuable content, you establish yourself as an expert. You prove that you know what you’re doing and that you can be trusted.

Join and actively participate in relevant groups

LinkedIn groups are a great way to connect with professionals who share similar interests or work in the same industry as you. Joining and actively participating in these groups allows you to expand your network, learn from others, and share your own knowledge and expertise.

Utilize hashtags

Just like on other social media platforms, using relevant hashtags on LinkedIn can help increase visibility for your posts. Do some research to find out which hashtags are popular in your industry or niche, and start incorporating them into your content.

Conclusion

Optimizing your LinkedIn profile is the starting point for succeeding on LinkedIn. Once you’ve done that, you need to start regularly sharing valuable, insightful content that will capture the attention of your connections and potential employers. By actively engaging with others on the platform, you can expand your network and build strong relationships with other professionals. And if you stay consistent, you will start to see growth.
